Your tour guide will pick you up at your hotel in Hanoi in the early morning, starting your journey to Ba Be National Park. We’ll drive along Highway 3 passing through Cho Ra town (where we stop for local lunch) for about 5 hours in a comfortable car.
Upon arrival in Ba Be, you will prepare to change clothes and paddle kayaking along the Nang River through Puong Cave to the Tay ethnic village area then Dau Dang waterfall before trekking through the jungle. You will meet several Hmong villages before reaching to a Dao ethnic minority village. Tonight we will spend the night here.
– A 10-13km kayaking on river, 5-7 km trek.
Start by enjoying a traditional local breakfast, then we’ll set out on our 10km hike to a H’mong village, where we’ll spend some time in a local school, interacting and playing with the children. Often our guide will bring some sweets, pens and notebooks to give out as gifts to the kids. Our guide will also pack a basic but tasty picnic lunch that we’ll enjoy here.
After lunch we set out for another 10km of trekking off the beaten track to reach Coc Toc village. This last leg of the trek can be somewhat challenging, cross Coc Toc Stream, where you’ll see local fishermen plying their craft, this is a great place for a quick rest and refreshing swim before continuing on.
Dinner in an open fire area before overnighting in this traditional Tay stilt house.
– A 15-17km trek.
Breakfast is served on the open-air balcony overlooking the lake, then we’ll hop on the boat to explore Ba Be lake, the lake itself is actually three small lakes joined together – Pe Lam, Pe Lu and Pe Leng. The area was established as a national preserved forest and tourist centre in 1978, before being established as Vietnam’s eighth national park in 1992. It was recently recognised by UNESCO as the third Ramsar site in Vietnam – an important wetland of the world. You have ample time to enjoy the beautiful scenery surrounding the lake before we have to say goodbye to this slice of paradise.
We will take you along roads snaking through mountain passes and stopping for a quick lunch in a local restaurant. Arrive in Hanoi before dark.
